Major Infrastructure Improvement Projects Completed in 2019-20

Water Treatment Plant Lime System Control & Feeder System Improvements (Wholesale) 
Lime is an additive used as part of the water treatment process to balance water quality and inhibit corrosion.​​ This project completed improvements at the water treatment plant to the existing control and lime treatment process to improve the process for lime addition.

Retail Master Plan Update (Retail) - A Retail Master Plan Update was completed in FY 2019-2020 and was done to assess the District's existing storage, distribution, and transmission facilities and then identify the facilities needs based upon analysis of the existing facilities, foreseeable water demand, normal operations and other operational needs, and the anticipated regulatory actions.  The District last completed a Master Plan in 2006/2007.  This Retail Master Plan Update Project will provide a roadmap of recommendations, and estimated costs and a sequenced schedule, for Capital Improvement Projects and operational improvements needed for the next five to ten years ahead.

Douglas Boulevard Pipeline Replacement Project (Retail) – Work for this project involved replace approximately 4,035 lineal feet (LF) of existing steel water pipe with new 6-inch and 12-inch fusible C900 PVC and 12-inch ductile iron pipeline, and to install 23 water services.  The project was constructed within Douglas Boulevard from approximately 330-feet west of the intersection with Auburn Folsom Road, and to the east to end of the project located at the intersection with Mooney Drive.  The project was constructed in four (4) phases to reduce the water service outage times to our customers.  This project began in May of 2018 and was completed in June of 2019.  There was a need to delay completion of the project during the winter months until when the rain had subsided and the temperatures were conducive to doing paving work in the spring of 2019.

Dambacher Drive Service Replacements Project (Retail) – Work for this project involved the replacement of nineteen (19) existing, aged residential water services within Dambacher Drive with new water services.  Work for this project also included road restoration and paving.  The project began in May of 2018 and was completed in June of 2019.  This project was done with the Douglas Main Replacement Project and therefore, even though the project only took a few months to be done, the completion date coincided with the Douglas Main project.

Edward Court Pipeline Replacement (Retail) - This project involved the replacement of existing, aged pipeline and water services on Edward Ct, south of Lou Place.  Work included the installation of approximately 230 lineal feet of new 8-in pipeline, and about 95 lineal feet of new 4-in C900 PVC pipeline.  The improvements also included the replacement of three (3) water services.  This project began in March 2019 and was completed by June of 2019.  Customers to be affected were contacted by District personnel a few weeks in advance of the project construction start-up, and were provided with specific information related to the construction schedule and aspects of the project were anticipated to affect those customers.  This project resulted in improved supply and extended the service life for the customers on Edward Court.

Lou Place Pipeline Replacement (Retail) - The Lou Place Pipeline Replacement Project involved the replacement of approximately 740 lineal feet (LF) of existing, aged pipeline with new 8‐inch diameter Ductile Iron pipeline and the replacement of four (4) water services within Lou Place (west of Auburn Folsom Road).  This project replaced old facilities that had reached the end of their useful life, and it added dependability to the water distribution system.  This project began in March 2019 and was completed by June of 2019.  Customers to be affected were contacted by District personnel a few weeks in advance of the project construction start-up, and were provided with specific information related to the construction schedule and aspects of the project were anticipated to affect those customers.  This project resulted in improved supply and extended the service life for the customers on Lou Place.

Redbud/Lupin/Meadowlark Services Replacements (Retail) - This project involved the replacement of 44 existing, aged water services from the water main in the street to the meter box in the frontage of the residential properties.  Work also included the installation of five (5) new fire hydrants.  The project locations were on Redbud Road, Lupin Lane, and Meadowlark Lane.  This project was started in March of 2019 and was completed by June of 2019.  Customers to be affected were contacted by District personnel a few weeks in advance of the project construction start-up, and were provided with specific information related to the construction schedule and aspects of the project were anticipated to affect those customers.  This project resulted in improved supply and extended the service life for the customers.

Sandstone & Auberry to Hill Rd Pipeline Extension and Services Replacements (Retail) - The Sandstone & Auberry to Hill Road Project involved the replacement of approximately 175 lineal feet of existing, aged 8-in pipeline, and the replacement of 17 existing water services that had reached the end of their useful lifespan.  This project started in March of 2019 and was completed by June of 2019.  Customers to be affected were contacted by District personnel a few weeks in advance of the project construction start-up, and were provided with specific information related to the construction schedule and aspects of the project were anticipated to affect those customers.  This project resulted in improved supply and extended the service life for the customers.
