SB 845, the mandatory "voluntary" remittance water tax bill, did not pass the Legislature this year. Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon called it a "piecemeal" funding approach. His statement is at the link below. It is unclear whether or not the Legislature will attempt again next year to impose a tax on water agency customers, but there will be a new Governor and new members of the Legislature, and we will see what transpires.
