Do Not Use Water Notice

May contain: text

An unknown substance has been added to the drinking water supplied by the San Juan Water District due to a recent incident at our treatment plant.  The State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, Sacramento and Placer County Health Department, and San Juan Water District are advising residents who receive water from San Juan Water District, Citrus Heights Water District, Fair Oaks Water District, Orange Vale Water Company, and the portion of the City of Folsom located on the north side of the American River to:

NOT USE THE TAP WATER FOR DRINKING, COOKING, HAND WASHING, OR BATHING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

What should I do?

  • DO NOT USE YOUR TAP WATER---USE ONLY BOTTLED WATER.  Bottled water should be used for all drinking (including baby formula and juice), brushing teeth, washing dishes, making ice, food preparation and bathing until further notice.
  • DO NOT TRY AND TREAT THE WATER YOURSELF.  Boiling, freezing, filtering, adding chlorine or other disinfectants, or letting water stand will not make the water safe.

We will inform you when tests show that water is safe again.

Please note: You may see staff flushing water throughout the District while this order is in effect. This is a necessary part of the process of bringing the water quality back up to regulatory standards.
