11.16.11- Solar Power Statistics Available

Discover how your high quality drinking water is prepared for the tap! Call 791-0115 for more information and to book a 90-minute tour. Comfortable flat shoes are recommended. Can't make it this week? Tours are offered on select Friday's throughout the year.
10.26.11- Only ONE Hot Water Demand Rebate Left
Is the chilly weather making you wish for hot water faster? Don't be left in the cold! Be the last San Juan customer to get a rebate for a hot water demand system. There is only ONE rebate left and we will not be continuing this program! Visit our rebates page for the details!
10.18.11- Express your Concerns for Draft Delta Plan
It's time to tell the Delta Stewardship Council that their Draft Delta Solution puts an unequal burden on San Juan Water District and Northern California water customers. We're calling for a revised plan that doesn't reduce the amount of surface water San Juan is allowed to use or increase costs to our customers by levying unfair fees. Send a letter to the Council urging them to revise the plan. Read more about the Draft Delta Plan.

9.29.11- Solar Project Meets Target Power Production
Over three months ago we flipped on the switch to our solar power! In that short time, it has produced 496,174 kilowatt hours of energy, enough to power 41 homes. It is anticipated that the system will produce 1,507,054 kilowatt hours during the course of the first year. 8.24.11- Retail Customers in Specific Areas in Granite Bay, especially those streets at the highest elevation, may experience low water pressure today
SJWD will purposely be lowering the level of Hinkle Reservoir (our treated water storage facility) to allow for maintenance and also for emergency planning purposes. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes our customers and we appreciate your patience and understanding while we conduct this test of our system. We anticipate that we will start refilling the reservoir by late afternoon and pressures will return to normal.
8.17.11- California Department of Public Health Inspection Report is Excellent
Our 2011 Compliance Inspection Report of all district facilities had no deficiencies identified, a rare and stellar achievement. The report stated, "San Juan Water District's water treatment plant and water system is professionally operated and maintained." Another testament to our mission to ensure the delivery of a reliable water supply of the highest quality at reasonable and equitable costs- every day, year in and year out.
8.11.11- Come work at SJWD
The Field Services team is looking for a qualified Distribution Operator I/II or III. Duties may include excavate/backfill mains; repair leaks; operate/maintain system valves, pump stations and light/heavy equipment; assist with meter/hydrant/valve/pipeline repair and installation. 8.8.11- Attend last free irrigation workshop of the year Saturday, 8/12!
Cheryl Buckwalter, with Landscape Liaisons, will discuss landscape design and the importance of putting the right plant in the right place. Our staff will demonstrate how to install drip irrigation systems. We hope to see you there from 9 a.m. to noon! Call 791-2663 to reserve your spot.
7.25.11- Wednesday Board Meeting Cancelled

7.20.11- Solar Power is On
Today, we flipped on the switch to solar power! Partners from SunPower and PG&E were on hand to help us celebrate. The solar panels will supply up to 90 percent of the power for the district's water treatment plant and facility.
Assistant General Manager, Keith Durkin, tells Good Day Sacramento viewers all the customer benefits that come with solar power.

6.29.11 - Irrigation Field Day, July 9 from 9-2 p.m.
Join us, in cooperation with the City of Folsom, at our free Irrigation Field Day on Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the District office, 9935 Auburn Folsom Road, Granite Bay. Enjoy hands on demonstrations, chat with industry representatives and visit the educational booths!

6.22.11 - No Rate Increase for FY 2011/12
San Juan's Board of Directors adopted our 2011/12 retail operating budget at the June 8 board meeting with NO rate increase for customers. We're glad that we can continue to deliver our high quality water to our customers at no additional cost. For more budget information, check out Where Your $ Goes. 6.15.11 - A+ Water Report Card

6.13.11 - Free Irrigation Workshop this Saturday

6.7.11 - Placer County Water Agency thanks San Juan
Placer County Water Agency Board Chairman, Lowell Jarvis, expressed his thanks in the Auburn Journal to San Juan Water District and the other water agencies that stepped up to provide water to their customers. PCWA temporarily experienced an emergency water shortage when the Bear River canal collapsed in April. We are glad that PCWA's water shortage emergency has been resolved and happy that we were able to help!
5.10.11 - Access closed to San Juan Water District May 17 from 10-11:30 a.m.
Auburn-Folsom Road will be closed due to the AMGEN Tour of California on May 17. Access to our offices will be restricted from 10-11:30 a.m. Please postpone visits to our offices until the afternoon. We apologize for the inconvenience. Tour map.

4.28.11 - Learn How to Rid Your Garden of Pests
Visit the UC Integrated Pest Management Program (IPM) kiosk at our Administration office for tips to solve pest problems, protect the environment and prevent runoff from residential landscapes. The easy to use touch screen computer will be at San Juan the entire month of May. You'll be able to print out the useful information and take it home with you. 4.14.11- Free Irrigation Workshop this Saturday
Want to plant smart this season? San Juan makes it easy with a free Irrigation Workshop this Saturday! Join us at our Administrative offices from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and we will show you the best ways to use irrigation technology to your full advantage. 4.1.11 – No Rate Increase Recommended for 2011-12 Budget
After thorough evaluation, staff believes our current rates can cover costs while maintaining service levels. We will not recommend a rate increase next fiscal year to our board of directors. Read how the District saved $325,000 and will forgo salary increases.
3.31.11 – Gardening and Irrigation Questions Answered Every Friday in the WEL Garden
Fridays from 1-4 p.m. a San Juan conservation technician will be available in the Water Efficient Landscape (WEL) garden to answer questions about pruning, irrigation techniques, plant selection and more! Click for more information.

1.24.11 – San Juan Recognized for Excellence
in Financial Reporting
San Juan Water District was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting given by the Government Finance Officers Association and represents a significant accomplishment. 12.30.10 – Auburn-Folsom Road Accidents
Unrelated to San Juan Water District
Today's traffic accidents caused by black ice on Auburn-Folsom Road and Douglas Boulevard were unfortunate. Placer County determined the source of the ice was seeping groundwater that froze due to low overnight temperatures. The cause was not a leaking fire hydrant, as previously reported. The safety of our customers is our highest priority and we continually monitor our pipelines to ensure they are safe and working properly.

11.24.10 – Thanksgiving Holiday Hours

11.04.10 – Rebates for Aeration Discontinued
While we still encourage customers to aerate their lawns in the spring and/or fall to improve lawn health, the District is no longer able to offer aeration rebates. After evaluating the experimental program the District determined it was not cost effective for the District to administer. Thank you to customers who were able to participate.

The San Juan Water District Board of Directors is interested in obtaining a facilitator to assist in the process of conducting a review of the General Manager and Legal Counsel. Proposals are due Friday, October 15th.

6.23.10 – 2% rate increase covers increase in basic operating costs
The Board of Directors approved a two percent rate increase in lieu of the five percent increase originally recommended in the five-year 2006 Financial Plan and Water Rate Study conducted by an outside consultant. Sensitive to the current economic climate, the Board did not want to implement a five percent increase and create a burden on rate payers. It was determined that a two percent rate increase was necessary and will go into effect January 1, 2011. Read more here.
