Outdoor water use accounts for 70 percent of customer water usage. With a few simple adjustments, you can reduce your bi-monthly water bill, save energy and help California repair our waterways.
Water saving tips

Additional tips
- Water outdoors between midnight and noon when to reduce water evaporation
- Avoid outdoor watering on windy days so water doesn't blow away
- Use rotor sprinklers to ensure even water distribution (rotor and impact sprinklers should never be mixed in the same zone)
- Split irrigation into two or three short cycles to allow water to absorb into the soil and reduce runoff
- Apply mulch to plants and shrubs to keep soil cool and reduce water evaporation
- Check soil conditions to monitor watering needs; push a screwdriver into your lawn at various locations and, if it goes in easily, there's no need to water it because it's still moist
- Keep grass longer because it shades root systems and holds soil moisture better than shorter grass
